What is Conscious Running?
Conscious Running is not about running faster or harder or greater distances; it is not about competition or marathons or 5K’s and 10K’s; but it will certainly contribute to improvement in all of these areas. Conscious Running is about letting the body and the breath find their own natural coordination, their own rhythm, their own best functioning. Conscious Running is an exploration of sensation, integration and wholeness. Come join us in our journey and discover the true joy of running, and the richness and depth of living fully!
We will be looking at the following topics in the course of the summer and fall:
• warming up and cooling down
• stretching with the breath
• running with the breath
• tuning the senses
• how to run in balanced support
• running as meditation
• running as “re-creation”
• how to pace yourself
• how to avoid injuries
• when to run (and when NOT to run)
• the mechanics of running
• multitasking and running
• what to do with your arms while running
• running in the cold
• the Conscious Running Morning Tune-Up
